A TAKEAWAY that has enjoyed a successful twelve months along a thriving high street is looking to further boost the business.

Wanting to "bring something different to the high street", Abdul Rouf launched 'Zerizza' along Newton-le-Willows' High Street in May 2023 and has had "great feedback" over the past 12 months.

The restaurant and takeaway - which provides Nando's style chicken, pizza, and kebabs with an "Asian twist" - is Abdul's third business in the area following the launch of Aman's Indian restaurant 10 years ago and Good Burgers in Earlestown in 2022.

With Newton's high street known as a hive of independent businesses, Zerizza has benefitted from the footfall this brings, and the takeaway has a particular boost when customers leave nearby pubs and bars and are desperate for a tasty takeaway to take home.

As customers have frequently asked for the business to open later than its current operating hours of 5 to 11pm, Abdul has applied for a licence extension to sell food up until 2am.

With positive responses from customers and a loyal list of regulars, Abdul believes that these extra opening hours will provide a big boost in trade for Zerizza.

Abdul said: "I've had successes with my other two businesses around Newton and Earlestown, so I knew that I wanted to bring something a bit different with Zerizza.

"Business has slowly picked up since we opened 12 months ago and we have had some great responses, but we are constantly being asked if can we open later at night, to around the same time pubs and bars are closing.

"Most of our trade is at the end of the night so we want to listen to this demand from customers, and we think it will be a really big hit for us."

Abdul said that the business is awaiting a response from St Helens Council regarding a permanent licence extension.

In the long-term, he hopes to expand the takeaway menu and extend the venue's indoor seating options.
