DONALD Trump, America’s Brexiteer-in-chief, and his disciples cheered when Brexit was mentioned at the recent Republican convention in Cleveland, Ohio.
They say they sympathise with the lofty goals of democracy, sovereignty of borders and making life better for their children and grandchildren.
Of course, this is said with a wink and a nod, all a thin disguise for their white ethno-nationalism. Sound familiar?
Perhaps those who voted to leave the EU would also support the Donald’s suggestion for the US to quit NATO. Let’s see what a good idea it is to “go it alone” when, in the event of a military attack on the UK, Trump thinks better of coming to our defence and simply tells us, “Cowboy up!”
