THE argument the government and council are using for building a freight terminal on Parkside Colliery and the greenbelt land around it is that it will (so they say) reduce the amount of journeys made by lorries on the roads.
This will lead to a reduction in pollution caused by lorries and help create sustainable transport that's good for the environment.
These plans down the road in Haydock go against all of this so surely the council won't allow these plans to go through especially as it will be built on yet more greenbelt and farmland.
