WIGAN Warriors prop forward Liam Byrne has been banned for four matches for the high tackle that resulted in Saints centre Mark Percival leaving the field for a head injury assessment (HIA).

At tonight's Operational Rules Tribunal Byrne pleaded guilty to a Grade E Head Contact charge for which he was dismissed in the Betfred Super League fixture at Saints on Good Friday.

Percival did not return to the field after the incident, 17 minutes from time.

On top of the suspension Byrne has been fined £750.

Meanwhile Tyler Dupree was unsuccessful in a challenge against the grading of a Grade C head contact charge from the same fixture on Good Friday.

The one-match suspension issued by the Match Review Panel therefore stands, along with a £500 fine.

This was the incident which resulted in Joe Batchelor leaving the field.

No further action was taken by the Match Review Panel for the raised elbow on Matty Lees, for which he was yellow carded in the first half.

Saints did not appeal Matty Lees' two match ban for head contact with Luke Thompson.
