HARESFINCH Masters team had a couple of guest players for their home game against Blackpool Stanley on Saturday.

Father and son Chris (66) and Scott Bond (35) normally play their rugby in Canada just outside of Toronto for Ontario Greybeards and Canada Grizzlies.

But when Chris, who is originally from Fingerpost, decided to visit St Helens for the Easter period, he got in touch with Haresfinch about having a run out.

The club were more than happy to oblige and the pair filled a number of positions in the halves and at fullback and fitted in well Haresfinch scored four tries to Blackpool’s one.

St Helens Star:

Chris and Scott enjoyed Saints’ derby day win over Wigan before taking to the field for Finch on Saturday and will now enjoy a few more days in St Helens before travelling over to Perpignan for the Catalan v Saints fixture at the weekend.

Following last year’s maiden overseas international fixture for Haresfinch against the Republic of Ireland, the Masters now have a France tour in July when they take on the Galia Tots in the South of France.

They have now started to look at plans for a potential Canada tour in 2026 and visiting Chris and Scott for a fixture over there.

Haresfinch Masters now have a two week break before our next fixture when we take on Cadishead Rhinos at Haresfinch Rugby and Community club on Saturday, 20 April with a 1pm kick off.
