ST HELENS Town came unstuck against a revitalised Mersey Valley team losing 3-1 in the heat at Ruskin Park.

The visitors had stunned the home side with a Deering finish from close range on 27 minutes after a great stop initially from Town keeper Kyle Rugg.

Town came out for the second half in much better form and were denied by some last ditch Valley defence on multiple occasions before Liam Diggle headed home a Tom Jackson corner for his ninth goal of the season on 70 minutes to equalise.

Town pushed on for a winner but as the heat started to take it's toll on both sides, Valley hit Town on the counter attack late on with two break away goals from Baroudi and Riley to take the spoils.
