ST HELENS Town continued a run of good form with an important 4-0 victory over early pace setters Newton-le-Willows.

Newton started well and frustrated Town in the opening exchanges before a Liam Diggle cross was converted by Tom Jackson on 17 minutes. The 1-0 half time scoreline somewhat flattered Town.

The second half saw Town step up a gear and the home side cut loose.

Further scores from Ryan Cook, who finished clinically after Jackson had rattled the crossbar.

Then Liam Diggle found the back of the net after Cook had smartly flashed the ball across the face of the goal to put Town 3-0 up.

Youngster Rob Marsh rounded off the scoring by cleverly deflecting the ball into the goal on 70 minutes for a final score of Town 4 Newton 0.

Right back Ciaran Lea was awarded player of the match with a composed display.

Town are hone this Saturday at Ruskin v Mersey Valley with a 3 pm kick off time.
