RAINFORD eased their relegation worries after picking up a victory in the latest round of games in the Liverpool Competition Premier Divison.

John Dotters took 4-43 as visitors Formby were bowled out for 157 before an unbeaten 57 from Paul Farrar helped the hosts claim a three wicket win in agame that marked bowler Andrew Pickavance's 200th 1st XI game for the club.

Rainhill remain looking over their shoulder after they lost at bottom-of-the-table New Brighton. Electing to bat first, Rainhill were dismissed for just 105 in 30 overs before the hosts eased themselves to a six wicket win despite Bilal Khan's 3-38. 

Newton-le-Willows has their lead cut at the top of Division One after failing to force a win against a stubborn Sefton Park. Chris Chambers (60) and Ben Walkden (50) both hit half-centuries as the visitors declared on 182-9 off 55 overs. Ahmad Safi Abdullah then took 7-39 but the hosts dug in to claim the draw as they closed on 151-9.

St Helens Town are just two points above the drop zone after losing by three wickets at home to Birkenhead Park. Sibusiso Maseko top scored for Town with 45 as they were dismissed for 94 with William Griffiths' 4-34 the only other highlight.

Sutton are second in Division Two after a brilliant bowling display saw them dismiss Southport Trinity for just 30. Natalie Brown (4-8) led the way with Sean Faulkner (3-7) and Ben Scott (3-13) doing the rest as the hosts sealed a five wicket win. 

Rainhill were in action again on Sunday in the Vitality Club T20 (L&DCC Group) Finals Day but they suffered a nightmare in their semi final against Northern who had posted 126-9 before were bowling out Rainhill for just 24 in 10.4 overs.
