CLOCK Face Miners suffered a narrow 16-14 defeat at the hands of East Leeds in a frustrating game at Clock Rec.
As a game it wasn’t pretty with indiscipline the order of the day with what seemed like a penalty in pretty much every set of six, stifling any fluidity for either side. Clock started the stronger and were in early for the first try when a Callum Topping pass sent Ian Webster through a gap to score. However, following a team warning, Clock’s captain, Lewis Geraghty, was sent to the bin for a professional foul and Clock seemed to lose their go forward during his spell on the sidelines. Easts capitalised and scored two tries before the break to lead 12-4 at half time.
A Mike Morgan try for Clock, 7 minutes into the second half, reduced the deficit.
However, Webster was out of sorts with the boot, missing both of Clock’s conversion attempts. Easts stretched their lead with a try 10m in from touch for their prop forward.
A Luke Forber try, converted by Topping, with a minute to play was just too late to give Clock a chance of a comeback.
