10,000m track success for Rachael
RACHAEL Fairclough, representing St Helens-Sutton A C, won the Northern 10,000m track title at Stretford on Saturday night.
Making her debut at the event Rachael, who represents St Helens Striders on road and cross country, recorded 39.16.25 finishing less than a second behind husband Peter who recorded 39.15.93.
Her time was a new St Helens-Sutton club record for the track distance. Coach Dr Phil Thomas said: "Rachael has had an excellent season culminating in her Northern victory which will be translated into equally good performances on road and cross country. Her success was well deserved."
