SAINTS half back Luke Walsh is facing a recovery of up to five months from the horrendous leg injury suffered in the win against Widnes Vikings.

Fears were initially raised that the Australian would require even longer on the sidelines, but Walsh is now out of hospital after surgery to repair his broken leg.

Saints head coach Nathan Brown said: "He has snapped his fibula, had surgery and the plates and bolts - all the type of things that go in.

"He'll be four to five months. It was as good as a result as we could have expected. It could have been worse."

Losing Walsh for the rest of the season followed hot on the heels of the previous week's injury to fellow experienced half back Lance Hohaia.

Brown says Jordan Turner and Gary Wheeler are favourites to take up the number six and seven roles at Hull on Friday.
