A 37-YEAR-OLD man who died suddenly after collapsing at a house is believed to have been involved in an altercation with three young men earlier in the evening

Emergency crews were called to Hargreaves Street in Broad Oak after the man was taken ill on Friday night.

He died in hospital a short time later during the early hours of Saturday.

The death is being treated as unexplained and an investigation is continuing, add police.

A post-mortem has been carried out but the results were inconclusive.

DCI Steve Cox, said: "As part of the investigation into this man's death we are keen to retrace his final steps.

"I would urge anyone who remembers seeing a white man, approximately 6ft tall with short dark hair walking along Broad Oak Road with another man between 10pm and 10.45pm last night (Friday) to get in touch.

"We believe the deceased may have been in an altercation with three males in their late teens or early 20s earlier in the evening."

The location where the man was found was cordoned off for examination. He has been identified and his next-of-kin told about his death.

DCI Cox added: "Information that may seem trivial could assist us greatly with our enquiries."
