GRAB the ball... hard-tackle the man! Here are some of the rugby old gang from St Helens, including the future Saints favourite Peter Metcalfe, shown second player from right at the back.
The picture was taken at St Ann’s back in 1952 and includes our ‘man about town’ Frank Maher, the third player from the right, standing.
Frank knows most of the team, but wonders if anyone else can supply the complete list of identities.
Here’s how he names them, from the right. An unnamed official, Morris, Jackson, Fletcher, Bobby Chisnall, Frank Maher, Peter Metcalfe, a player nicknamed ‘Mull’.Front: Leyland, Brunskill, Murphy, Greenough, Morris and Johnny Cotham.
ANYONE else recognise these sports lads from more than half a century ago.
