IN reply to one of the flashback pieces about the Civil War E. Williams of Eccleston writes:
“A few years back one of the Middlehurst sons who lived in Howards Lane, found a cannonball in the field known as War Horse Field.
It had been kicked up from the soil presumably by one of the horses that used to graze in that field. Not only the Roundheads would have used cannonballs.
