“MY apologies to all faithful followers of the Whalley's World page. It's taking an unavoidable break while I battle against the bad luck of suffering an accidental fall.
“It should really have been a week of personal triumph, marking a full 60 years in journalism for me. But forget the diamond celebration. Instead I prefer to offer my vote of thanks to the caring staff of Whiston Hospital.
“They've done a great job on me, via stitches and plastic surgery.
“Rumour has it that I may have to give up my modelling ambitions, but otherwise I'm fighting back to fitness.
“Meanwhile, there's nothing to stop your Whalley's World memories rolling in, feel free to keep them coming!
“My sincere thanks to all fans of this page for their special ‘get well’ cards and goodwill messages.”
