THESE smiling schoolkids of the 1950s will all be in their mid-60s by now but reader Shelia Allen (nee Molyneux) hopes the photo will bring back fond memories for her fellow former pupils of the old Sutton National School - popularly known as ‘Sutton Nash.’
The photo, which was taken around 1954/55, was sent to Sheila by her dad who came across it while preparing to move to a retirement village. She, in turn, forwarded it to Whalley’s World, from her current home in Queensland, Australia.
Sheila, formerly from Sutton, married husband, David in 1967 and the couple and their two children emigrated Down Under in 1973.
She writes: “I can recall a few of the names and would be interested to hear from anyone else who remembers that last year before moving up to senior school.”
Sheila is seated first left on the front row. Others featured on the picture are Alan Anders, Barry Kelly, Kenneth Moore, John Moore, Alan Poole, Ken Forest, Tommy Platt, Anne Lawson and Sylvia Johnson, along with headmaster Mr Anderton or Anderson (left) and teacher Mr Harrison.
