THIS flashback to a walking day in the 1960s (above) shows the Peasley Cross Primary banner held proudly by two eager youths as the pretty ribboned-girls stand in procession.

They are supervised by Connie Jones (nee Gravener) on the left, along with Doris Davies (nee Roughley).

The snap is just one of a selection of pictures going on show at a Reunion Open Day to be staged by Peasley Cross United Reformed Church on Saturday, November 1.

Secretary Helen Greener says the event, at the church in Beaufort Street, will have many interesting attractions including lots of old photos as well as wedding and baptism registers. The organisers are also seeking more recent work.

And Helen has also been in contact with Cynthia Taylor, daughter of past minister, the Rev West, who has a tablecloth which it is hoped will be on show at the open day.

This was signed by all the church members with each signature embroidered by Mrs Hall.

The members all paid sixpence for this signing ceremony, many years ago.

Says Helen. “They must have been doing fund-raising way back then.”

The church is praying for a successful event bringing people to meet up with old friends.
