Car crashes into a house after rolling down the street in Billinge

At around 11.25am on Thursday, April 25, reports of damage made by a vehicle were reported to Merseyside Police.

It was later observed that a Dodge Nitro 4x4 vehicle had rolled down Powell Drive in Billinge.

On its descent, the vehicle collided with a parked Mercedes Sprinter truck and a Fiat Punto, a road name sign, and the front of a house on the corner of Startham Avenue.

On social media, residents have suggested that the handbrake had been applied on the automatic Dodge Nitro, although it had not been applied fully and led to the car falling backwards down the hill.

It is believed that the driver tried to stop the vehicle and suffered minor injuries as a result.

Damage was caused to the cars and the house, but no one else was injured during the incident.

Fire crews are reported to have cracked the Dodge's bonnet up to disable the battery, and no airbags were deployed. The vehicle's window was cracked and windscreen pushed forward. 

It is understood that insurance companies have been contacted for the damage caused.
