WEST Park achieved a season's winning double over Southport beating the home side 13-6.

After a first half of dominance punctuated with handling errors denying at least four tries, .injuries to fly half Liam Hill and later to scrum half Darren Wilson caused a disruption which the home side capitalised on in the second half.

The visitors open the scoring within minutes of the start of the game, after a powerful 30 metre break by centre Josh Ainsworth, leaving several defenders in his wake produced a try, the attempted conversion by Houlton hitting the upright and not counting.

Park continued to dominate and a quickly taken tap penalty by Hill found Loughnane in support who in turn found centre Adam Woosey who finished in style to add to the visitors score, although the attempted conversion was again unsuccessful The score of 10 points to nil at half time did not truly reflect the visitors supremacy, but with the score being so close, Southport showed a much stronger belief in their abilities , and as the half progressed they were the better team , albeit their powerful pack and strong running backs were held at bay by some resolute defense by Park., limiting their scoring efforts to just two penalties.

Houlton converted a penalty with the last kick of the game for Park, with Ainsworth and hard working and energetic 2nd row Johnson sharing the plaudits as man of the match Next week West Park 1st XV travel to Sefton, while the 2nd team entertain Liverpool Collegiate, with the 3rd team after a thumping win at Sefton travel to Port Sunlight, all games with a 2.15 pm kick off.
