PETS including rabbits, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, chickens and gerbils will soon be able to stay at a luxury hotel in Rainhill which even has 'penthouses' for its small guests.

The new business at Elton Head Hall Farm, in Rainhill, will open this September - and will provide three tiers of luxury accommodation for animals.

Danielle Mclean, 32, who lives at the farm, which produces crops and currently does not accommodate livestock, will run the hotel which will be located in a converted barn.

Originally from Halewood, Danielle grew up on a farm and has looked after animals all her life and has completed a number of pet handling and welfare courses.

Danielle, a member of the British Rabbit Council and Rabbit Welfare Association, said: "I can't wait until we start getting the little guests coming in! The barn is still being converted, but it will be ready in September.

"We can have all types of small animal, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, bearded dragons, birds, chinchillas, rats, gerbils, and so on.

"We won't have larger animals like dogs or cats, as these tend to be catered for already."

She said there will be three levels of accommodation - a standard hutch, a hutch with 60 sqft running space and the penthouse hutch, which has 120 sqft running space.

She said: "As we have so much space, the animals will be able to run around 24/7. Pets will have access to ladders leading up to mezzanine levels with safety balconies, tunnels and toys.

"It will be like an adventure playground for them!"
