FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire in the flue of a restaurant in Newton-le-Willows.
Two fire engines attended the Newton Balti House premises on Earle Street after Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service received a report of the fire.
Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used a high-powered hose reel and CO2 extinguishers to put out the fire.
Crews then used PPV fans to ventilate the property and a thermal imaging camera to search for areas of heat. They isolated the gas and electricity.
The property was partially damaged by fire and smoke. No-one was injured and the fire service have confirmed it was started accidentally.
The incident happened at around 4pm on Tuesday (July 26). Firefighters remained at the scene for around an hour and 40 minutes.
