SHE took Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage by storm to underline her position as one of the UK's most exciting artists...and this Friday Haydock Park concert goers will get the chance see for themselves why so much of a fuss is being made about Jess Glynne.

Jess made her first mark on the public consciousness as the vocalist on Clean Bandit's Grammy Award winning and hit 'Rather Be' and has gone on to be one of the biggest breakthrough acts of recent years.

She has had five number one singles and her debut album 'I Cry When I Laugh', which also headed straight in to the top spot, has now turned double platinum in the UK.

She said: "It's going to be great fun playing Haydock Park Racecourse on July 1 after the races. I love outdoor shows and can't wait to share some summer evenings with my fans!"

She added she is "surprised and overwhelmed" that all the tickets to the show were snapped up within a few weeks.

"Having family in Manchester, I am always surprised and overwhelmed when I hear things like that," she said. "It's never a normal feeling."

As a horse lover, Glynne is donating a percentage of her concert fee to charity Retraining of Racehorses - which is being matched by the Jockey Club Live.

She said: "I love horses and have loved riding from a young age. When I was first approached about playing dates at racecourses it made me think about what happens to the horses that get injured or just too old to race anymore so I did some research and found out about the charity and the work it does.

"So when I agreed to the dates I said I'd do them if I could donate some of my fee to the charity."

She added: "I've never had horses as an opening act before!" and said she might have a flutter if "any of the runners' names pop out".

Jason Fildes, Haydock Park General Manager, said: "Jess is one of the biggest UK breakthrough acts over the past few years and has a double platinum album so I'm sure she'll give the Haydock crowd an electrifying performance after an evening of excellent racing on the track."

The action kicks off earlier in the day with a six race card.

Soul singer Lisa Stansfield - who topped the charts in the late '80s and '90s - is to headline at Haydock following the races on August 5.
