NOSTALGIA will be in the air at Central Library as it hosts an event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saints' all-conquering team of 1966.

To honour the famous season that Saints won four trophies, past players from the squad of ‘66 will be present to give people the opportunity to hear about their memories of the year first hand.

To be held on Monday, May 9 there will be several activities on offer for Saints lovers.

From 10am – 1pm fans are invited to bring along Saints memorabilia such as programmes, scarves and jerseys so that Central Library can photograph and document them as part of a digital archive.

There will also be an enlarged image on display of the Boys' Pen at Knowsley Road from Good Friday Good Friday 1966 for 'speccies' to spot themselves on.

Meanwhile, copies of the booklet 'Four Cups and All That; St. Helens RFC 1965-66', written by Saints historians Alex Service, Graham Cunliffe, and Adrian Lawrenson will be available to purchase and fans can talk to the authors about past players, matches and the success of 1966.

From 2pm to 4pm ‘A tribute to the Boys of 1966’ will be held in the Local History Library showing match highlights of the famous Wembley win against Wigan.

Alex Service and player Peter Harvey will share personal memories using audio and visual aids with a question and answer session and refreshments.
