SHOPPERS got more than they bargained for last weekend after a number of superheroes dropped in to St Mary's Market for a family fun day.
Children met and dressed up as comic book characters - such as Batman, Spiderman, Superman and Superwoman - courtesy of children’s entertainment company Starkidz.
Church Square shopping centre is hosting a series of free summer children's activities in St Mary's Arcade, near the B&M entrance, every Friday in August.
Children can take part in craft activities, making and decorating sun visors, wooden beach hut frames, wind chimes and coin banks.
A spokesperson for St Helens Council said: "If you missed out on the fun, fear not! There will be a spellbinding Pirates and Princesses event in St Mary's Market on Saturday, August 15 from 12 to 3pm which is sure to be a really good day."
