THE power of art has been on show in town thanks to an artistic movement.

Free Art Friday is an initiative where artists gift pieces of original art to the public. And the creative minds of St Helens have been using the movement and power of social media to display their latest offerings.

With the Heart of Glass project being a driving force behind unlocking the town's artistic potential, the local arts scene seems to be currently thriving.

Last week, in the wake of the saga over the removal of the benches in the Hardshaw Centre, a Banksy-style graffiti painting left outside the centre by Drunk Wolf Artist captured the attention of the public.

And the planned demolition of the Boar's Head pub, on Elton Head Road is the theme in the spotlight for today's Free Art Friday under the hashtag #SavetheBacon.
