A FOODBANK received a £200 funding boost from a St Helens supermarket.
The Asda store in Kirkland Street presented St Helens Foodbank with the cash to buy a selection of products to help vulnerable residents.
Janice Macleod, from St Helens Foodbank, said: "This really is a wonderful and much needed donation. While we all wish there was no need for this service, there are members of the community in crisis who really need supporting.
"This donation will help raise awareness of the work we do in the local community. On behalf of everyone at the foodbank I'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Asda St Helens."
St Helens Foodbank provides emergency food parcels for people in financial crisis and guidance on solving longer-term problems.
