A BOXING coach is inviting people to get active for a cause close to his heart.

Mark Frodsham, 45, has arranged a 'boxathon' event at the Peak Fitness Arena in Parr in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

People can get involved with a range of activities on the night to help raise funds for the cause and a collection bucket will also be at the gym on the day

“Cancer has been in my family and I know a lot of people who have had it," said Mark, from Rainford.

"A couple of my aunts suffered from it and my sister also had a tumour and one of my grandparents died. A few of my friends have lost family members too.

"I have done a parachute jump in the past and a previous event at the gym raised £200.

"I'm hoping to get another couple of events in before the end of the year and I would like to get something going annually.

"I know people in America through the boxing and am thinking of getting something going over there too.

“It’s just my way of giving something back. The night will consist of circuits, skipping, rope climbing, tyre flipping, light sparring, bag work and various exercises, all in a friendly fun atmosphere to help raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust."

The event will take place at the gym on Fleet Lane on Sunday, May 24 from 11pm. People can also visit www.justgiving.com/Mark-Frodsham1 to donate.
