THE second man to have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in Whiston nearly a fortnight ago has been granted police bail.

He was one of three men questioned after a car was stopped on Water Street in Liverpool Tuesday, April 21.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting on Friday, April 10 that left a 24-year-old man from Whiston with life changing injuries.

He was wounded in the back when shots were fired from an Audi sports car at a VW Passat during a car chase around residential estates at Copperwood Drive in Whiston.

Last week they arrested a 37-year-old from Huyton on suspicion of attempted murder but he was released on bail.

Fresh developments in the case happened  on Tuesday evening when a Volkswagen car was stopped in Liverpool.

A 30-year-old from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply, two Section 18 woundings with a firearm on 11 March 2014 in Lincombe Road, Huyton, as well as attempted murder.​

The driver – a 26-year-old man from Widnes – was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply.

The 30-year-old from Huyton was questioned on suspicion of attempted murder. He was also arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply and two Section 18 woundings with a firearm on March 11 2014 in Lincombe Road, Huyton.​

The second passenger – a 25-year-old man from Widnes – was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, assisting an offender and possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply.

All three men were taken to police stations in Merseyside for questioning. A police spokesman has confirmed all three men have been bailed pending further enquiries.
