DETECTIVES investigating the shooting of a 24-year-old man in Whiston have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was arrested along with two other men after a Volkswagen car was stopped on Water Street in Liverpool at 5.30pm on Tuesday, April 21.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Widnes, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply.

A 30-year-old from Huyton was also arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply, two Section 18 woundings with a firearm on March 11 in Lincombe Road, Huyton, as well as attempted murder.

The second passenger, a 25-year-old man from Widnes, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, assisting an offender and possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply.

A police investigation into the shooting of a 24-year-old man during an incident involving two cars on Copperwood Drive in Whiston on April 10 remains ongoing.

Five men have so far been arrested in connection with the Whiston incident and remain on police bail.

The 24-year-old victim suffered life-changing injuries having been shot several times while in a VW Passat which detectives believe was pursued through the Whiston area by an Audi RS3.
