A PROPOSAL to extend a church hall in Rainford has been given the go-ahead.
All Saints Parish Church Hall, in Church Road, will get a new single storey extension as well as alterations to the roof. The new room will be used as an office for the church vicar and support staff.
PLANS to repair nine windows at Billinge C of E Church have been submitted to St Helens Council.
Stone work around the windows of the church, in Newton Road, is damaged and, if permission is granted, the opportunity will also be taken to remove and repair glass from the windows, including some re-leading work.
As the building is Grade II listed, an officer from English Heritage was consulted on the proposals and is reported to be satisfied the work is necessary but advised careful selection of replacement stone. It is also proposed that anti-theft window protection on 12 windows is replaced.
