RAINHILL Village Hall had some eye-catching exhibits on display as hundreds made the journey for an annual event.

The day saw model locomotives and tracks at the show, held in the hall by the Rainhill Model Railway Club.

The club had 11 layouts on display, with experts passing on their knowledge to the crowds who attended, including children.

And the Merseyside & SW Lancashire 009 Narrow Gauge Group was also in attendance.

They had five layouts of their own, including traders and demonstrators showing people how to make different displays.

And for the little ones, Father Christmas was also present to meet youngsters who turned up on the day, with a charity “Sno-Joke” also there to keep them occupied.

“It went very successfully and we had at least 500 or 600 turn up,” said Peter Hughes, of the Rainhill Model Railway Club.

“We had very favourable comments from people leaving.

“It was the 16th event which we have held each year on the same weekend.

“And the free vintage bus from the Transport Museum worked pretty well.

“Overall it was hard work on the day.

“But very successful.”
