FIREFIGHTERS hoisted a man to safety after his car veered down an embankment.
Crews were called to Common Road in Newton-le-Willows just after 2.30pm on Friday (November 21).
A 28-year-old man managed to get out of the vehicle by the time crews arrived but firefighters from Newton and Belle Vale needed a rope to lift him up the embankment.
He was assessed by paramedics and taken to Whiston Hospital.
Crews were at the scene for around 45 minutes.
