A NEW woodland orchard burial area is opening next month.
GreenAcres Woodland Burials in Blindfoot Road, Rainford, is introducing the area to provide families with an alternative to the woodland setting.
The area, which opens on November 1, includes a wide range of native fruit trees such as apple, plum, cherry, damson, walnut, mulberry, medlar and a variety of native trees and shrubs.
Tom Cowley, woodland supervisor at GreenAcres Woodland Burials, said: "The new orchard area is of great benefit to the site and the area, supplying blossom for the bees, and fruits for various local fauna and of course the local community.
"The view from the orchard provides scenes of rolling countryside, coupled with ever-changing hues of the seasonal skies - a beautiful lasting memory and tranquil place to reflect."
Prices for burial in the orchard start from £800 for a full burial and £375 for an ashes burial.
