CHURCH SQUARE will welcome some very tall visitors this weekend for a day of family fun.

On Saturday, September 27 a magnificent moving forest of 30 feet 'tall trees' will set the scene for activities in the town centre.

The event forms part of a campaign to promote Bold Forest Park, the area which is home to the iconic Dream sculpture.

From 10am to 3.30pm events will include forest crafts, bike rides and face painting. All will take place under a beautiful 'new forest' in the square.

Businesses from Bold Forest Park will be there to provide maps and other information about the park.

Local firms are now working together to promote the area, attract more people whilst continuing to promote St Helens as a great place to live, work and do business.

Supporters of the project reckon the forest park attracts around 300,000 visitors each year.

Council Leader Barrie Grunewald said: "The plan will focus on areas of community woodland on the former collieries and surrounding agricultural land at Sutton Manor, Clock Face, Colliers Moss, Wheatacre, Maypole and Griffin Wood.

“It will examine how these areas can deliver a range of benefits for local communities and visitors from further afield.

“A particular aim will be to concentrate on the visitor economy and explore how to stimulate the expansion and diversification of existing businesses in the area as well as the attraction of new business opportunities sympathetic with the Forest Park."

The tall trees’ journey can be followed on Twitter via the hashtag #DreaminBOLD and more can be found out about Bold Forest Park on www.boldforestpark.com.
