The mayor will be visiting a book sale to raise money for the Autism and Aspergers group this Saturday (September 27).
It will take place in the Tea Rooms of St Helens Parish Hall, with all books on offer for 50p.
Charity fundraiser Mary Guilfoyle, 65, of Rainhill, is hoping for a good turnout to help raise awareness of their work.
She said: “What we want to do is we want to set up a hub with information and support, not just for those with autism but for their carers as well.”
The sale is one of several events the charity is holding in the coming weeks, with a wine tasting night on Wednesday October 1st and a race night at the British Lion, in Thatto Heath, on Saturday the 25th.
The book sale opens at 9am, with the Mayor due to make an appearance at around 10.30.
