A CARE home has been praised following an inspection by watchdogs who said their service was “safe, effective and caring”.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission visited Lymewood Court in Haydock in May.

The inspection covered staff training, dietary and medical requirements and quality of care.

The home on Piele Road has 46 beds and provides residential and nursing care as well as respite care for older people. They also specialise in palliative care.

Their report stated: “People who used the service told us they were happy with the care and support they received. Their comments included, “Food is good”, “Visitors are always welcome” and “A very happy place.”

Inspectors said: “Staff were knowledgeable of people’s health needs and they were confident about how to deal with concerns they had about a person’s health.”

The views of residents also formed part of the report. They too were full of praise for staff members. Among the comments people said: “The staff are fantastic, polite and caring” and “They know everything they need to know about me.”

In addition Lymewood has also received a five star hygiene rating from St Helens council.

Manager Carol Morley said: “This positive report is testament to the hard work of all the staff. Quality is at the heart of everything we do and it is pleasing to have this independent verification of our care".
