GOLFERS have responded in their droves to Eccleston Park Golf Club’s call for unwanted bags and clubs.
The Rainhill club is taking part in a national scheme to liberate abandoned golf bags and clubs in lofts, garages and sheds for worldwide redistribution by golfing charity The Golf Trust.
So far, more than 50 golf bags and more than 300 golf clubs have been donated in the club’s pro shop, with almost three months still left for golfers to hand in unwanted equipment.
The Golf Trust is sending all donated items to disabled golf charities and inner-city projects in the UK, and to golf outreach schemes in Grenada, India and Romania.
“Most golfers have a couple of spare bags and clubs gathering dust somewhere” said Richard Burbidge, Eccleston Park GC general manager.
“If that sounds like you, then bring it all in and we guarantee that your old golf bag and clubs will make somebody, somewhere in the world, very happy!”
And there will be a trip to Grenada to see the bags being given to the local communities in store for one lucky participant in the Amnesty, with a prize draw to take place in October 2014.
Anyone with a spare golf bag or golf clubs can simply walk into Eccleston Park Golf Club and donate at any time up until Sunday, September 28.
