THE sun beamed down on the second Rainford Summer Festival last Saturday, with visitors flocking in their thousands to a celebration of village life.
Live entertainment in the grounds of Rainford High Technology College saw the school showcase their most talented students and support local performers.
Bands, including The Leadswingers, Abraham Saints, The Patriots and the school’s own Western Circus took to the Wish FM stage, while acoustic guitarist, Ben Crumpton, was among the highlights.
Ukulele performers, the school’s own samba band and street dancers added to the vibrant mix on the Junction Acoustic Stage.

Elsewhere, the science department set up rocket demonstrations and the English department had a reading tent.
Aspiring cooks and bakers also learned lessons at a Can Cook Studio.
And the Rainford Heritage Society’s display of First World War artefacts and photographs attracted enormous interest from those who visited the stand.

Students and staff were widely involved in the festival, with many acting as stewards to make sure that the event ran smoothly as possible and helping guide visitors.
School principal Ian Young said: “For the second year running Rainford High Summer Festival brought the community together with a great day for all the family.

“Thank you to everyone who came, took part and had a great day together. It was brilliant to see all the students who acted as stewards supporting the school and the community."
